Notes
- This quest will disappear permanently from the Notice Board after a short time from the start of the game. Plan accordingly by raising Mercedes' affinity (as soon as possible at the start of the game; before starting Off With Its Head) so this quest will be available upon reaching Gran Soren for the first time. It may be wise to accept and complete it as soon as the Arisen sees it on the Union Inn board to ensure it gets accomplished.
- Upon entering the Shadow Fort there is a Portcrystal that can be found in the jail cells (Dark Arisen only). This Portcrystal cannot be acquired until the quest A Fortress Besieged, however.
- Clearing out the Ancient Quarry before taking this quest makes the trip much easier, as 3 Ogres and many Goblins and Hobgoblins populate the route to the Shadow Fort.
- For lower level characters where the Ancient Quarry isn't an option you can take a route back toward Cassardis, turn up the path with Dripstone Cave exit just before The Encampment, and head down the right fork coming from the north, past the Eradication Site and back North through Devilfire Grove along the coast and cliffside as to avoid the Drake.
