Dragon's Dogma Wiki

Salomet's Grimoire is an item available in Dragon's Dogma.

Description[]

"A legendary tome of potent magick. Any may wield it, but only once ere the book crumbles."

Salomet's Grimoire is a magickal book, written by the sorcerer Salomet. If used by the Arisen, the Grimoire will cast Bolide like meteors instantly, but only once. The mage in training, Steffen, seeks the book.

The grimoire, or a forgery (Salomet's Grimoire Forgery) is required to complete the quest A Troublesome Tome.

Acquiring the Grimoire[]

Obtaining the tome (walkthrough)

The book was originally in the possession of Rowland, but was stolen by bandits who waylaid him on the Manamia Trail. After the tome was stolen, it can then be found in a chest at the highest point of The Ruins of Aernst Castle - the bandits in the castle itself are not particularly hostile, but hostile bandits are found on the main route to the fort. However, if the fort bandits are approached before the Arisen's fame has reached them, they will attack.

If the quest A Troublesome Tome is active, the bandit's leader, Maul, may hand over the grimoire if his affinity is high enough. His trust may be earned by completing the quest No Honor Among Thieves, or by gifting Skulls or other items.

Notes[]

  • When used by the Arisen as a spell, damage is purely magickal. This is like a more powerful Goddess Cameo, and unlike High Bolide, which also does some physical damage. The Arisen's magick has no bearing on the power, but the invigoration Magick Boosted will increase the power of the spell. Roughly ten meteors are produced.
  • This item can be forged at The Black Cat to make Salomet's Grimoire Forgery.
  • If Maul gifts the tome, the chest atop the castle will disappear. Prior to accepting the quest A Troublesome Tome, there is no chest and no tome to be found at Maul's castle.
  • If the item is used or gifted to a pawn, a Salomet's Grimoire Forgery will appear at The Black Cat, not an original.
