In Dragon's Dogma, the Rank (or Discipline Level) is a stat that represents the level of experience or expertise in a specific vocation. Discipline Points (DCP) are required to gain Rank levels.

A lvl.34 Warrior with 8 out of 9 discipline ranks obtained.
Overview[]

Discipline Rank is also shown in the equipment menu
Each vocation has its own Rank, with nine levels in each. As the Arisen and Main Pawn gain Discipline Points defeating enemies and completing quests, they will level up in Rank in their current vocation. Rank levels start at one for every vocation learned.
Rank levels determine which Skills and Augments become available to learn for each vocation. Skills and Augments are obtained by learning (purchasing) them with Discipline Points. For example, it costs 2,800 discipline to learn the Sinew augment available for the Fighter vocation at Rank 5.
One's current Rank level is represented by a row of red wax seals in menus and when gaining rank.
The table below lists cumulative (total) Discipline required for each vocation's Rank level.

Notes[]
- There is a ratio between how many Discipline Points (DCP) are earned per Experience Point (XP). See Discipline Points for more information.
- In order to maximise Rank growth and minimise Character Level growth the focus should be on defeating small enemies with modest experience awards. Also, hiring two high level pawns can reduce experience point gain per foe, and increase the relative amount of Discipline Point growth.
- DCP are still earned after a character has reached Lvl. 200.
- DCP are not spent when advancing Rank level; only learning Skills, Augments, and new Vocations consumes them.
