Holy Fortress is a holy based skill available in Dragon's Dogma.

Description[]

Notes[]

Skill Duration
Holy Wall 1 min
Holy Fortress 2 min
  • Once the Arisen has finished casting, their magick shield will have a goldish glow around it, indicating that the spell is active. When blocking a wall of shimmering light appear, centered on the shield - it repels physical attacks, mitigates impact from spells and increases the blocking radius. This allows the Arisen to block more attacks and still keep footing.
  • The wall of light intercepts most types of projectiles before they can impact the shield and therefore nullifies completely force of impact and Stamina cost on blocking.
    • Such attacks include Great Gamble, Evil Eye's icicles or a Large Stone tossed by the Gorecyclops.
    • Curiously this skill will block lunges from Wolves and other members of the wolf family of enemies as if the lunge were a projectile.
    • It takes short moment before "the barrier" is unfolded so it won't intercept projectiles blocked in the last moment.
    • Does not block a Dragon's flame breath.
    • Attacks launched at point blank range also aren't intercepted.
    • The barrier's projectile intercepting property acts erratically at certain areas of Bitterblack Isle.
    • The range of this blocking is slightly less than the frontal hemisphere, whilst attacks slightly outside this arc can still be blocked but consume stamina.
  • On completion of casting, a small shockwave is produced. This shockwave causes some smaller creatures like Goblins to cower in fear, and may inflict debilitations, including Elemental Debilitations from permanently enchanted shields like the Thunder Kite Shield.
  • The wide blocking arc can be used to protect allies, such as Sorcerers who are intoning spells.
  • Grappling enemies (and even pawns) will produce the wall of shimmering light. There is no change in function when this occurs. This is likely a nod or reference to using a "human shield".
