Walkthrough[]
[1] Quest begins when speaking with Beren at his tent, which is located in Northern Vermund at the base of Mt. Alles. He will assign two tasks to the Arisen:
- Bring him some weapons, 3 swords to be exact.
- Locate a motivated soldier to train.
[2] Obtain 3 Swords:
Swords can be obtained at the Borderwatch Outpost (which is cheapest) or in Vernworth when seeking out the ideal candidate in step 3. If this quest is on the back burner or while taking on other endeavours, other shops can be visited while traveling around other regions and towns, some peddlers that travel from place to place also sell swords, but may be much more expensive.
[3] Recruit a Motivated Soldier:
The ideal candidate is Humphrey, who is located in Vernworth. He can generally be found near the portcrystal that resides in the center of the city. Speak with Humphrey and recommend he join forces with Beren.
[4] With swords purchased and Humphrey recruited, return and speak with Beren. He will then ask the Arisen to spar with him at the Borderwatch Outpost.
[5] Spar with Beren:
Two outcomes can occur, although either outcome ends in the same result- the Arisen earns Beren's respect. There however is a difference in Beren's dialog, depending on if the Arisen wins or losses:
- Besting Beren:
- To best Beren, the Arisen must knock him out of bounce or deplete his energy a second time. (verify)
- Beren's reaction/dialog when winning: "That was well fought. You're e'en stronger than I'd anticipated."
- Losing to Beren:
- Beren knocks the Arisen out of bounds. Beren can easily send the Arisen flying a great distance with his powerful warrior-style attacks.
- Beren's reaction/dialog when losing: "Hm. Seems I expected o'er much of you."
Note: Additional sparring dialog will take place if the Arisen is capable of depleting a good portion of Beren's energy. To do so, both Beren and the Arisen cannot be knocked out of bounce.

Following the sparring session, Eli will arrive and request that Beren "must come, and quickly!"
[5] Follow Eli and Beren as they investigate the troubled site of a recent attack by goblins and a cyclops. The incident will lead to Beren's dismissal as an instructor, culminating in the completion of the quest.
