Dragon's Dogma Wiki

Bitterblack Sanctum is a location in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen.

Description[]

The sanctum resembles a basilica, with a staircase leading through its narthex to a secondary chamber, with aisles behind pillars. The floor strongly resembles Byzantine mosaics. Between the gargoyle-adorned columns, there appears to be some primitive frescos. At the far end, in the apse, is what resembles a fallen arch (easily confused for a throne, as Daimon is sitting upon its remains when the player first enters), amongst piles of bones.

The ceiling is crumbled away in some areas showing what appears to be the rift. This gives a similar feel to the Ur-Dragon's arena, although the Sanctum is shaped differently. To the northwest transept, there is a gated treasure chamber which opens once the battle is complete.

The main entrance is from The Fallen City, a second side route is unlocked once Daimon is defeated - it leads via a treasure room to Bitterblack Isle Harbor.

Map

Key : Macabre Sculpture '!

Pots at the narthex, both up- and downstairs contain useful items, including : Harspud Sauce, Large Nut, Decade-Dried Harspud, Panacea, Light-Cure, Bottled Haste, and Conqueror's Periapt.

Destroying the various crates around the sanctum will yield different curatives, but the items below are consistently placed (going clockwise on the map, starting from the entrance) :

  • South (entrance) : Macabre Sculpture (on the upper landing of the stairs on the right behind a pot prior to entering the cathedral and engaging Daimon).
  • South : Salubrious Brew lies on the ground on the right from entry door. This may be collected without starting the boss fight by issuing a "go" order to your pawns while standing just behind the door—assuming at least one of them has some acquisitor inclination.
  • West : Harspud Sauce, Panacea and a Salubrious Brew on the ground near the broken pillar by the exit door. And Lordly Tonic by the fifth, broken column (usually sunken in texture).
  • North : Wakestone (on the ground, to the right of Daimon's throne).
  • North : Godly Analeptic lies on the ground behind the throne. A Harspud Sauce can also be found around the throne.
  • East : Three Harspud Sauces lie on the ground, near the broken pillars.
  • East : Lordly Tonic by the third collumn from the entrance.

Pawn Chatter[]

"Shall we make for the surface? We'll not be able to return straight away, but..."

Notes[]

  • The fallen arch that resembles throne is climbable.
  • The south gate is locked after fighting Daimon making returning to the Fallen City (usually) impossible.
  • It's possible that the loot from the Sanctum chests may be different on re-defeating (ie farming) Daimon repeatedly at the same progression. Specifically there is less cursed items and more rift crystals.(verify)

'Infinite loot' glitch[]

Dragon's_Dogma-_Dark_Arisen_farming_glitch_bitterblack_lvl3_and_wakestones_with_doortrick_glitch!!!

Dragon's Dogma- Dark Arisen farming glitch bitterblack lvl3 and wakestones with doortrick glitch!!!

  • (Glitch) (Exploit) If the "Barrel Glitch" is used to exit via the south gate Daimon's respawn can be avoided allowing repeated chest looting without repeated battling. The steps are :
    1. Fight and defeat Daimon (no pawns recommended)
    2. Exit via the locked South gate using the "Barrel Glitch"
    3. Return to Olra
    4. Return to the Sanctum (the south gate will be open, but Daimon absent
    5. Enter the treasure room and take the loot
    6. Exit to The Fallen City and re-enter the Sanctum
    7. Repeat 5 & 6
  • This glitch is thought to only work for Daimon's first form, and rely on the game-state being between pre and post-Daimon. For this reason actions that trigger the 'post-Daimon' state should be avoided. These include :
    • Exiting via the door from the Sanctum to Bitterblack Isle Harbor (or visiting the upper areas of the harbor)
    • Using a Liftstone (Note : Liftstones may not function at all)
  • Loot from the chests is from the second phase of the Daimon battle. So it may contain Bitterblack Weapon Lv.3 but no Bitterblack Gear Lv.3
  • Warning! It is possible that using this glitch may corrupt the save file. It will likely be impossible to progress the Daimon storyline since he cannot be fought afterwards.
    • A Hard Mode reset (swtich from normal to hard to normal mode), or triggering post-Daimon phase may fix this.(verify)
